Overall, this piece is in good condition considering its age. I'm really not sure what kind of leather this is. I think it would probably best be described as roughcut cowhide. There are a couple of fringes missing along the base on the backside and a few spots where the suede finish is worn smooth.Along the front there are a few spots that look like they might be stains, but they're of a color that they do sort of blend with the overall look of the hide. What I found difficult to photograph was the beadwork. The manes on each of the horses are strung and hand freely. This gives them the ability to swing with movement when being worn. The tail beads are attached to the hide(possibly glued)and hold in place.
It might even be a children's vest. I do believe it would fit a smaller woman(or man). Please be sure to check the measurements below. BE SURE TO CHECK OUT MY OTHER AUCTIONS.ARMPIT TO ARMPIT(measured along the outside). I strive to receive 5/5!! That's they're new system. Heavier items will cost more. So I do sometimes add a couple of dollars to the cost to cover myself. I guarantee everything I sell. All items are guaranteed to be as described. However, I go to great lengths to provide correct measurements and nice big pictures of every detail. If you fail to do so, or the piece doesn't fit properly, I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do. However, I sometimes don't get around to leaving the feedback for a week or so.
